Marriage Begins with God

Marriage is not a human invention but God’s good design from creation. In Genesis, God establishes marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 1:27, 2:18–24). Jesus later reaffirms this pattern, pointing his hearers back to creation rather than redefining marriage (Matthew 19:4–6).
Marriage is God’s idea. It exists first for his glory, and as husband and wife live within his good design, they experience the blessing, joy and flourishing he intends.
Not everyone is called to marriage. Scripture honours both marriage and singleness as gifts from God (1 Corinthians 7:7). Yet for those who are called to marry, marriage is a unique calling through which they can love one another faithfully and reflect God’s character.
Marriage Is a Covenant
Marriage is far more than a legal contract or a romantic relationship. It is a lifelong covenant made before God.
In this covenant, husband and wife promise faithful love through every season of life. They are called to grow in grace, forgiveness, humility, perseverance and sacrificial love. Because God himself is faithful, Christian marriage is intended to reflect that same covenant faithfulness throughout life.
Marriage Points Beyond Itself
Christian marriage tells a greater story.
Scripture teaches that marriage reflects the relationship between Christ and his Church (Ephesians 5:31–32). A healthy marriage therefore points beyond itself to the gospel. It becomes a visible picture of Christ’s faithful, sacrificial and enduring love.
Marriage is not the ultimate goal. Christ is. Yet marriage provides a remarkable opportunity to glorify God by displaying his love in everyday life.
Growing Is Part of God’s Design

Every marriage experiences challenges. Because we live in a fallen world, relationships are affected by misunderstanding, pain and sin.
The good news is that Jesus transforms people. As we follow him, he shapes us to become more like himself. Healthy marriages are never built by accident. They grow through countless everyday choices, intentional habits and a willingness to keep learning, forgiving and loving.
Biblical Wisdom and Relationship Science

Jesus Christ is the foundation of everything we do, and Scripture is our final authority.
Scripture is sufficient to teach God’s design for marriage and how we are to love one another (2 Timothy 3:16–17). Relationship science does not replace or complete God’s Word. Rather, it often observes and describes patterns in human relationships that are consistent with biblical wisdom.
Over recent decades, careful research has identified practical habits, communication patterns and relational practices that help marriages thrive. Used wisely, these insights provide helpful tools that can assist Christian couples in applying timeless biblical truth in everyday life.
Where relationship science confirms biblical wisdom, we gladly make use of it. Where it conflicts with Scripture, we follow Scripture.
What this means for our ministry?
We are not here to redefine marriage.
We are here to help couples live out God’s good design with biblical wisdom, practical tools and hope.
Our commitment is first and foremost to Jesus Christ. Because we seek to follow him, everything we teach is shaped by Scripture. Alongside this foundation, we thoughtfully draw on trustworthy insights from relationship science and neuroscience to equip couples with practical ways of putting biblical truth into practice.
Our prayer is to see marriages strengthened, families encouraged and God glorified through relationships that increasingly reflect the love of Christ.
